Outdoor Dance Improvisation Performance | Karlovsky & Company

Karlovsky & Company Dance is a dance company based in St. Louis, Missouri that performs choreographed dances as well as hosts several improvisation performances. This particular event photographed is from a structured improvisation outdoor dance performance held in Grand Center in Midtown called “InTRANSIT”. Four color-coordinated groupings of dancers explored their allotted environments, staying curious in their movement, dancing to the improvised score of local musicians. The audience travels from each environment within a couple block radius. Audience members are encouraged to walk between improvisation sites and enjoy other happenings during First Friday in Grand Center with art galleries open, sidewalk book sales, and live music.

InTRANSIT culminates by gathering all the dance groupings together in Strauss Park, performing a final, full group improvisation and encouraging audience members to join in the dancing afterward.
